Born-Free 15 Chopper Show

June 22-23rd, 2024

When is the Born-Free 15 chopper show and where will it be held?

The Born-Free 15 chopper show will be held on June 22-23, 2024 in Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, California.

Who are the Born-Free 15 Invited Builders?

Each year for over a decade Born-Free assembles a group of Invited Builders to build their dream bike and debut it in a special centerpiece in front of the main stage at Born-Free. This group to us represents the best of the Born-Free custom bike mentality!

The number of builders hovers around 30. The builders bring their talent, passion, style, creativity, and personality from all different walks of life, locations, inspirations to their choppers and custom motorcycles.

They all are also competing with their fellow builders for $10,000 in prize money and a trip for them and their bike to the Mooneyes Hot Rod and Custom Show in Yokohama, Japan each December!

Who started the Born-Free Chopper show?

The Born-Free Motorcycle Show originated in 2009 when friends Mike Davis and Grant Peterson decided to organize a gathering of vintage choppers in Orange County, California. At that time, there were few shows catering to bikes of this kind. Over the years, Born-Free has rapidly ascended to become the premier destination for enthusiasts of all ages worldwide, converging for a day to ride, witness, and discuss vintage motorcycles. With over 14 years of history, the event now draws more than 25,000 eager spectators and participants, along with 200 vendors/sponsors, live music, Ives Brothers Wall of Death, the much-anticipated Invited Builder show, Special Guest Area, AMCA regional swapmeet, and more.

The Born-Free Show is a fundamental showcase centered on the spontaneous action of individuals building and riding their vintage Harleys, Hondas, Indians, Triumphs (and more) into the show, transforming it into the main attraction. Open to all makes and models, the show adopts a relaxed atmosphere with voluntary registration and a few awards and prizes. Notably, the Best In Show winner earns a trip for themselves and their motorcycle to the Mooneyes Hot Rod & Custom show in Yokohama, Japan, in December. Within the show, there's a dedicated Invited Builder area where about 30 up-and-coming motorcycle builders from around the world unveil bikes crafted specifically for this event over the past year. These builders may not be TV celebrities but are craftsmen, small shop owners, and garage builders striving to create something unique, well-thought-out, and finely finished.
